National Food Cluster
From a Regional Position of Strength to a National Cluster
Since 2007 the Central Denmark Region has focused on developing the regional food industry. One of the main initiatives is the development of an innovative environment focusing on the food industry and its particular challenges. Thanks to this effort, the region has been given a special role in the development of the national food cluster.
The international perspective is also a focus area in the regional food venture. One focus area for the organisation “Danish Food Cluster” – which the Central Denmark Region played a role in establishing – is to form international contacts and partnerships based on Denmark’s success and skills in the food industry.
The region is also playing an active role in the ”Foodbest” cooperation, whose aim is to establish a knowledge and innovation community (KIC) between EU countries focusing on foodstuffs.
