The first tourism strategy of the Central Denmark Region was launched in 2011 along with an action plan named: “New Growth in the Tourism Sector in Central Denmark Region”. The Strategy was revised in 2016 - “New Growth in the Tourism Sector in Central Denmark Region 2.0” and runs until 2020. A new action plan runs from 2016-2018.

The aim is to create a more focused and professional tourism industry in Central Denmark Region in order to ensure the region’s competitiveness.

Action Plan

Action Plan: New Growth in the Tourism Sector 2.0 in Central Denmark Region. The Action Plan has three business areas:

  • Coastal and Nature-Based tourism
  • Business tourism
  • Second City (Aarhus)

In addition to the business areas there are a number of cross-cutting initiatives:

  • Cultural tourism
  • Food tourism
  • Competence development
  • Events
  • Digitization
