Co-funded by the European Commission within the Horizon 2020 framework, the Empattics project has started in February 2016. Over the next 3 years the project will work towards bridging the gap between chronic disease care and ICT, focusing on patient empowerment and using Pre-Commercial Procurement.

Empattics consortium consists of four regional public procurement authorities (Buyers) from Spain, Denmark and France and three partners. The partners in the consortium have joined efforts around the common challenge to enhance self-management of people with chronic diseases through innovative ICT tools. Empattics Buyers will announce a Pre-Commercial Procurement (PCP) tender to acquire those tools. The Buyers will procure Research and Development services from several suppliers in three phases instead of procuring already existing solutions.

Resulting prototypes will be tested for diabetes (type I and II), cardiac insufficiency and COPD (chronic obstructive pulmonary disease).
